What is a sankie?

I have been reading these messages for about 6 months and I cannot work out what a sankie is. I asked the question before and somebody posted a reply in German that I couldn't understand.
Would be very grateful for an answer I can understand as these message boards would make a lot more sense!

A sankie is a con artist/gigolo that will con a naive tourist/foreigner for his own advantage. Females are called sankiettes
