I have never heared of these "sankie helpers", in fact that little term made me laugh.
I know for a fact that many sankie read this forum themselves!

Kyle what's his point of reading this forum? I'm not sure I understand. just general thinking of foreign women. he tells me also that he gets info for his other friends. for example, when someone says "i'm planning to stay at XWZ in July i need some help" or "i'm a newbie to the DR and i'll be staying at" or "i'm a single woman traveling", they alert their fellow sankies at the other resorts. see women tend to do all inclusive where men sometimes will "rough it" on the economy...

now, do you see ? it's like a network..

Looking at definitions of sankies, I'm not sure how they are different from tigueres. Can anyone living there/ who has lived there please explain?

- and am I mistaken to understand that being tigueroso is a desirable quality? Although, now that I think about it, my dominican friends claim to be keeping me clear of tigueres.

It's "tigueraso", it basically means being street smart, or having street wisdom. It can have both positive and negative connotations. i.e. if you are a gringo and someone calls you a "tigueraso" or says that you are "mas tigre que nosotros", it's a good thing, usually means you know the low-down, and cannot be screwed around. On the other hand, when your friends say that they are keeping you clear of tigueres, they are talking about bad company that would screw you. So it can be a desired quality depending how you look at it.
