In fact, in this country, it is so much more severe a crime (abuso de confianza) than simple theft, that it is punishable by 5 years imprisonment.

I have yet to learn that a sankie was convicted for fraud or 'abuso de confianza' because he milked a gringa.

It's much more conceivable and likely that a sankie would successfully sue a woman tourist for abducting him to a foreign country against his will...

I agree.
I wasn't referring to the justice system and it's inadequacies, but I was pointing out that this fellow Felix was willing to be best friends with a dude who he knew was scamming women for money, but when he got scammed, then all of a sudden he takes the moral high ground.
You know how it goes.....

But,---!!!! whoever posted this here was aiming to enlighten women who were presently or could possibly be"victims'' of this guy Franklin. I dont believe this is an advertising scheme. I've been to Viva twice and Franklin Martinez was working at the resort during both times. He's a tennis instructor and works at the sports hut. So definitely not an advertising scheme.

I think there's just a little more to this story, this guy sounds like a jilted lover. What kind of guy gives another guy the keys to his apartment so that he can sleep in his bed? This guy may be a scourned lover, on top of the Laptop issue. My two cents.
