The sankies are much more aggressive in terms of getting your attention and trying to keep it. They call, they e-mail and they are relentless with the "muela".

Most of the chicas really put in minimal effort, if any at all. Especially the really good-looking ones because they always have guys all over them, tourists and dominicans alike.

And the chicas prefer to be sent money because all they want to do is go shopping. They don't really care about trying to make you believe they love you, whereas the sankies put in the work.

And since they all have dominican boyfriends I am sure they would rather keep playing you so that you keep sending that money so her and her man can live nice.

Sankies have dominican girlfriends too but they just seem to be more about getting off the island, whereas the chicas attitude seems to be if it happens it happens.

And the more you visit the worse the sex gets because they don't give a **** about you. I would estimate that a chica who says she's your girlfriend is good for 2 trips at the most. After that she will begin to inundate you with her problems and her BS. And the sex will get so bad you'll want to just throw her axx out and start over again. But by the time this happens one would hope that the appropriate lessons have been learned.

Sankies do this too but at least they try to play the game. I guess you can say they are good at what they do if you are naive or just straight-up stupid enough to fall for their crap.

Because to me it seems so obvious where they're coming from that if you can't see their motives from a mile away you deserve what you get.

Occam's_razor - I'm pretty sure there are some resort workers out there that are not sankies. But those are not going to be written about here. You see, if a man is not a sankie, he also wouldnt be banging anyone stepping off a plane.

Now, I'm not bothered by folks' preoccupation with sankies, but as a Dominican--and as an amateur observer of language and popular culture--I have to tell you that Dominicans have moved on, as they usually do, from this so-called phenomenon of sanky-pankydom. Yes, the behavior is still there at the beach, and yes, a film was recently made about it, but overall, it is passé, at least in Dominican parlance. Only you folks entertain it and keep it alive.

Maybe some of you should start paying attention to the Dominican psyche the way macocael, Lambada, and Rocky and a few others do. Even the very astute golo and the super-bright Pib avoided the subject: it's passé, folks, no matter what some Dominicans here tell you. It borders on naiveté.

Even I feel like a pariguayo just writing about it, but someone has to tell you.
