Why don't you pick up a Salvadorean day worker in front of your local 7-11 instead?

There won't be any more left pretty soon

Better make it 7-dayer. That hot sun and other dirty action may want you stay more... you will actually save on airfare that way.

I know a guy from Bolivia, he was a maintenance guy at an apartment complex I lived back in the states, he wants your phone number as well. And he speaks about 100 words in English, so you can communicate better, actually.

That's really nice. At least you know that the WU money is well spent - on cybercafes.

Come on, it's much more fun to learn the language "straight on" no dictionary whatsoever. The action is more fun that way.

Save the last laugh when you will see your bank statement in a few months or so ... or would that be tears?

OK, is this for real? That cannot be... right? Or can?

You could have just written two words "ME TOO" and we all would have filled in the blanks with absolutely no problem.

Was it really "fun in the sun"?

or maybe more like up against a palm tree getting the crap bitten out of you by the night sand fleas and mosquitos?

Not speaking from experience of course!!

Rubio Higuey must be a Sanky with all the time and investment he puts into his replies.

Summertime,
You seem like a nice kid, but there are a couple of things that you might not be aware of.

First, it is the "Dominican Republic" not the "Dominican". The Dominican is the sankie you were toying with.

Second, most of the replies you have gotten so far have very light hearted, polite, and potentially helpful, but you seem more interested in toying with this board, in the same way you are toying with your little sankie.

My question to you is, what is it that you are looking for here? What is your motive for starting this thread? You certainly aren't looking for advice. You already know what you want to do, so what's up, really?

I had to surf around for the definition. Suffice to say, no regrets on the vacation. I had a great time, and haven't been asked for cashola "yet". He does call me every night, and without e-mail the conversation is somewhat tortureous. OK - there are definately no plans for anything long term. Just some fun, and the opportunity to escape the snow a couple times this winter. However, if I get Sankified before the next trip then I'm not going. For interest sake - how much does a Dominican hotel worker make roughly anyway? So what do you all think? Will I be Sankied?
So you need a sanky to escape the snow. There's other opportunities better than that one you know

Catcherintheye,

Thank you for the correction re: "Dominican Republic" vs. "Dominican". I will change my language going forward.

I too have veen very light hearted, and hopefully polite. Not sure why you are all funky with this forum. Why do I have to play by your rules?? Hmmm....

I started this thread to see if there would be any interest in following along the path of whether or not I will be "Sankied". There seems to be a lot of discussion on Sanky's, so instead of just waiting to be victimized as most seem to think will happen, why don't I take the drivers seat and be well prepared in advance. I prefer to have faith that not all Dominican men are Sanky's right off the bat, however appreciate the enlightenment that this board has given me.

I will be honest and let you all know if the money-grab happens.....If you want to come for the ride, then great, if not then move-on. Why bash?

to anonymously brag about something she would not brag about in person

MAYBE?

if "she" isnt a sock puppet then it is a little refreshing not to deal with the woman who is convinvced through her broken heart that she is in LOVE!!!!! and needs to do all she possibly can to convince us, that man "waiting"( term used lightly) back in the DR is Mr Right.
