Student Summer Fun

Hi,
I am coming to Santo Domingo for the summer. I wanted to know what I should do there for fun. What clubs should I go to? Is there anywhere that I need to avoid? Tell me places that I can go that I will not be able to experience in the United States. I am also not very fancy so don't be afraid to tell me about the more gritty places that some Dominicans enjoy.
