Default Easter in Santo Domingo

My birthday is on Easter Day. I will be spending my birthday and holiday in Santo Domingo. Does anyone know of any special events that will occur during the holiday in the capitol city? Thank you in advance for any information.

Default easter

santa semana or semana santa, holy week, the week leading up to easter. big deal in the DR or RD. a lot of people take the week off. good and bad news. i like it because many santo domingo-ites leave town, loads less traffic, less noise, but it is still a city of 3 million (more or less, impossible to count) so everything is still open. ,,,,,,,bars, restaurants, casinos...........etc..........some people can't leave town, no money, work, kids, car broke, had fight with wife, but for them it is still a big holiday and they are going to celebrate..............no special events that i an aware of , although a small party with ramone is special to ramone, and you don't say what your taste is for, is it classical music, opera, ballet, hookers? in the colonial zone is the oldest church in the new world, we're talking serious history here, beautiful place i've been there several times, and i bet you a bucket of dirty socks that they will have one helluva of a get down and dirty service. please tell me about the flowers the bishop selected this year...EOM

Amparocorp thank you so much for that information. I will be in the Colonial Zone and would love to take a moment to visit the churches and take pictures. I do not like discos and bars much. I love Santo Domingo for its rich history. I might travel to the mountains to take pictures as well. The country is so beautiful. Gracias mi amigo.

Default It is holly week

Well, I was fortunate enough to spend holly week there 3 years ago, and besides doing the beach on Good Friday,,, there was nothing but getting together with friends, having "habichuelas con dulce"(sweet beans). There was no many clubs open, but if u have DR friends, people are always happy to get together on a long weekend.

If u decided to go up, let me know,, I have a good friend with a finca on the way to Jarabacoa, he will be happy to have u ove for few drinks and pictures.
