Default SDQ to Colonial Zone transport

Sorry to ask what must be an old old question, but I've spent HOURS searching to no avail. What IS the cheapest way for a visitor to get from SDQ airport to a hotel in the colonial zone?

Well if you are looking for the cheapest way then walking would be it,
but it will be a damn long walk !!

The airport is about 1/2 hr car ride from the Zona - when you come out
of the airport you will see the taxi line so just get a cab - cost about
$30 US. Just make sure you agree on a price before taking off.

There really is no "cheap" way unless you have a friend who could come pick you up.

Well if you're traveling light you can also do public transport. This is the absolute cheapest way to go. The other way would be taxi. This is only recommended during the day. When walking out of the airport make a right on the road just in front of the exit. About 20 yards down you'll see a bunch of guys on motorcycles. They'll charge you RD$20 pesos for a ride to the main highway. If you have more than one bag he might charge you 10 pesos more (the max I believe is two). Tell the man you're going to Santo Domingo and he will drop you off on the corresponding side of the street. From there you take one of the many buses passing along to the capital. This is not dangerous during the day and can be quite a different experience if you're up for it.

$35 is the set price from SDQ to hotels in the Zone. At least that was in February.
