Taxi into SD from airport

In April, I arrive one Thursday evening at about 9:00 pm and need to get a taxi into downtown.

Any suggestions on getting a quick ride into town?

Are the taxis all lined up waiting for tourists?

Yes, the taxi stand is on the left as you come out of the building. They are all lined up and there is usually someone in charge.

What's it cost, and are there any cheaper alternatives?

I think they are charging between fourty to fifty dollars depending where they will take you in the city.

My only other alternative is to have one of my relatives pick me up. I do not know whether there are buses or motoconchos or anything else for that matter. I do not take any other mode of transportation, and even if there was, I would not take it.

$35 set price from the airport to the Colonial Zone.

I'm back to the DR on March 15th, arrive Spirit Air at 1:30 p.m. Want to see if anyone arrives the same day & time to share a cab from the airport, split the cost.
