SD to POP

Anyone know how long of a bus ride (metro/caribe) it is to get to Puerto Plata. I want to do some mountain biking when I'm down there so I figured it book it out to POP and do an Isaira Tours mountain biking tour. Is that a good idea or are there better/closer options for a full/half day challenging mountain biking course closer to SD? Thanks!

Oh...haha, that's definitely not an option than. Are there biking tours offered in Santo Domingo for areas outside of the city?
