Default The Hotel has a Curfew? - Say it ain't so...

Hello Fellow DR1 Bloggers...

Help me out with this one.... I just read a trip report and an online review of a Santo Domingo hotel that I am planning on staying at for 2 weeks beginning next month. According to the reviewer, he had a major issue with the hotel. He states that the hotel would not let him in after 7 PM..... Now, I know my spanish is really rusty..... but I got the gist of what is being said in his message. I have cut-and-pasted his message below.

Does anyone know of this situation with this or other hotels? - Please Share your experience....Thanks for your assistance.

The hotel is the Maison Gautreaux. - I have heard EXCELLENT things from others..... but his review was recently posted from a recent stay there and I am paranoid about staying.... Any thoughts and insights??. Anyone who is in SD who could possibly check this out and report back. - Thanks - --- And again, Say it Ain't So.....

Is that the place just around the eastern corner of the front of the V Centenario/Intercontinental? I've heard good things as well but I've never seen the rooms.

Yes,I belive that is the one. You know, I have been to DR many times and to SD on 4 separate occassions. I have always stayed at the big Chain Hotels and paid the big bucks for the room. Now, I figured I would try to give the small guy my business. I have seen this place several times during my trips to SD but never went inside. I have heard great things and received good emails from folks about this property, but when I saw this review, I got nervous. - Any know anything different. I hope that someone who is local in SD can find out what happened and get a reply back to the forum.

The hotel is always open, They lock the front door for security reasons at night but there is always someone on duty to open door for you. You will be fine I always rolled in after 1 or 2 am and 3-5 am before the curfews so dont worry and enjoy your trip.
