Default How to Get from SDQ airport to La Isabela "Higuero" airport?

What is the best way to get from SDQ airport to La Isabela airport? My wife and I will make our first trip to Dom Rep later this month. We fly from Newark to SDQ arriving approx 1 pm. The last flight from La Isabela to El Portillo is 4:30 pm according to the Aerodomca schedule I found on the internet. I am concerned how to get from the one airport to the other, and if there is enough time (3 1/2 hours). Can anyone help? Thanks

Default Hey

My understanding of freinds who have done it, is that it takes an hour from sdq to la isabel higuero airport and the price for a cab to take you there from sdq is: $35 US. This is the DR so nothing is written in stone!

They told me you can choose from the many taxi companies at the airport. Just establish what the price is before you get in.

Default sdq to portillo

The time from Las Americas to Isabella by car is a bit more than 1 hour depending on traffic.
You might want to contact AeroDomca to look into charter flights directly from SDQ/Las Americas to Portillo. Sometimes they have somebody else in the same time frame and you could share a small plane, I think it costs around 270 US$ for the flight but if it is shared it could be less or around the same price as the taxi fare to Isabella (35 - 50 US$) + regular flight ticket (65 US$ per person) and you get directly to Portillo in 25 minutes and leave behind the taxi ride, the wait till 4h30, check in at Isabella etc...

Default The answer is takeoffweb.com

I found the solution to my problem! Hope this may help some others on this forum (I just joined last night, this is a great forum, very informative). Anyway, the answer is this: Takeoff Destination Service S.A offers daily flights from SDQ to El Portillo (my question was, technically, how to get from SDQ to Isabela, because I (incorrectly it turns out) thought that all flights to El Portillo take off from Isabela). But my end objective is to get to El Portillo. So this looks like a great solution. No bus or taxis from SDQ to Isabela, I can fly direct from SDQ. The website for Takeoff is Home. They have many other domestic flights also. The cost from SDQ to El Portillo is $59. And thanks to the 2 persons who posted replies to my question.

You are right, Takeoff does have a flight from SDQ/Las Americas to Portillo at 5 pm.

I just did what you are going to do and was reserved on the five o:clock flight with Takeoff Destinations, I arrived from Miami at 1h30 and was expecting to wait till 5 for my flight, (3 1/2 hour wait- no fun in any airport) I asked the folks from Aerodomca if there was by chance a flight (charter) to Portillo, no they didnīt have one but they took me to the folks from Takeoff Destinations and they had a flight leaving in 30 minutes to Portillo.
I was on the ground in Portillo at 3:45 p.m.
Ask both companies when you arrive, you might just get lucky,,,

P.S. the 59 US$ is without the 16% tax

In the traffic you lose some time because of the construction of the metro.
But perhaps the taxidriver knows another way to avoid that.

I've flown with Takeoff. The best referral I got was when I couldn't catch a flight with one of their competitors, whose pilots then told me that Takeoff had very good pilots kept a well-maintained plane. They ran on schedule to the very minute. I would recommend this Dominican air carrier as well.
