Have you ever driven in SDQ?
It is like driving through Times Square without lights or rules plus motos.
Why don't you use a driver and ditch the car...less headache and liability?

The website was down in order to change the host, but now is up. As you may know the Danae is situated in Gazcue, a very peaceful neighborhood, and its populated mostly by old people. Yes, little thieves looking for something to buy their drugs, always are watching for cars that are left alone to take the hubcaps, and those sort of things, but lately the policia nacional established that policemen should watch the area. And, almost in every corner there is 2 or 3 cops, to be specific, in our street there are 2, And we have a watchman outside, that in the night if you talk to him, he can keep an eye on your car. But, those guys waiting for something to steal AKA "Buzos", are extinguishing.

Have a nice day,
Franklin Gonzalez

You usually don't have much choice to park your car on the street in SD. There aren't exactly undergroung parking lots everywhere

Gazcue is a very respectable neighbourhood. I would not let the other post determine whether you stay there or not.

ive driven all over the island, SDQ isnt that bad, its challenging but manageable. ive just never spent a night having to park curbside, always in a hotel with a parking lot. i'd rather drive everywhere i go, but might consider hiring a driver, not a bad idea for a night out in town.
any suggestions who to call for a personal driver?

J

OK - since I live in this neighborhood I must tell you that it is really quiet, really safe and within a block of the Malecon, good restaurants, colmados, internet cafes, walk to Zona. Since we have now sorted out the prices and it looks like the DAnae is indeed at 900 pesos a night. I would definitely recommend it. This is a lovely place for walking, Completely safe for women walking alone. Come and stay here.
