Hang out on Conde, lots of sights to see....plenty of people to talk to. Cafeteria de Penalba in front of La Primera Cathedral is a great spot to chill.

Santo Domingo is a large city and there is a lot to see and do for the first time visitor. The Colonial Zone is an excellent place to start. Here is a website that I think you will find useful : The Complete Guide to Colonial Zone, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Tourist Information, Restaurants, Night Life, Hotels, History, Monuments, Maps, Music, Businesses, Folklore, Calendar, Language and So Much More.
Enjoy!

I reccomend, seeing a few historical sites during the day, relax by the pool or drive to the beach. The malls are also nice for people watching. My opinion is that Conde is okay to kill an hour or so, but it can get old very fast (for me at least). The website RonS mentioned has some nice sites and ideas too; but to be honest, nothing beats just relaxing at one of the many outdoor bars (away from car noise and fumes) with a beer and nice music playing in the background.
I'll be in SD with a buddy of mine around the same time as you (staying in the jaragua). If you want meet up with us for a beer, just PM me.
Cheers,
DM

Gracias
Gracias Donmiguelito...
I have one more question, I think the Jaragua is a good option for me... but what do you think about the All inclusive hotels in boca chica or juan dolio?
If I plan to spend more of the time in Santo Domingo is good idea to stay in that boca chica area?
thank you

Here is another hotel to consider
Hotel Mercure Comercial Santo Domingo: book your Mercure hotel in SANTO DOMINGO
Hotel Mercure is located right in the middle of Zona Colonial on El Conde. The rooms are a little small but quite comfortable. For the best rate you need to book online and pay in advance.
Hotel Palacio is another good choice.

A few things to do might include a shopping trip on Calle Durate, walking around the Mercado Modello area, a day trip to Boca Chica, the Sunday Flea Market on the Malecon, Jaragua Casino at night, also check to see if there are any concerts in Plaza Espana, and you must have at least one Presidente at Pacos Restaurant.

Theres too much to do in Santo Domingo and Colonial Zone. Why not stay in the Zone a few days then go to the beach for the last 2 days. then you can get the return home tan.
I love showing people around the Zone. If you want to have a beer (or 10) send me a message.
