Taxis at the airport and money

My boyfriend and I are traveling to the DR in 3 weeks. we are arriving at Santo Domingo airport and staying in La Romana. Is there anyway to pre-book a taxi. if not how much would be a reasonable rate. Also do we need to exchnage our america dollars for DR money. If so where would we do that?

Called the Taxi Union at Las Americas International Airport. They tell me they charge US$85 to Casa de Campo and US$95 to Bayahibe hotels. If you are going to a destination inside La Romana town, negotiate US$10 less, as they quoted RD$2,600. May I add that the unionized drivers at the airport are very professional, many speak English. For a destination such as La Romana, I would think it is just easier to take one of the airport taxis. For more information, you could call yourself to 809 549-0245 and 809 549 0327.

Always on time with late model vans and you can use your credit card via pay pal, which I found to be very convenient and secure.
