Anyone know of a taxi service to Gazcue who won`t gouge my eyes out? I will be arriving late. Also, are there plenty of ATM`s ? I always use them when I travel for best rate & convenience. i am hoping there will be good locations for these as elsewhere in latin america.

If you're asking about a taxi from Las Americas airport to Gazcue, the "official" tariff is currently around US$30 or about 1,100 Dominican pesos. Go to the official taxi stand to the left as you come out of the exit - don't risk the touts...you'll never know where you will end up, minus your luggage, wallet, watch, mobile phone and possibly the clothes you were wearing when you got in the car.

There are lots of ATM's around and if you search the forum you will find many, many horror stories about using them. Best advice is to use only ATM's that are actually inside of a bank so if it "swallows" your card, or doesn't come up with the cash you can deal with it on the spot. But then if you're inside the bank, why use the ATM? Do the transaction over the counter at the official rate.

Excellent advice Bryan, especially about the atms. However, since banks are used to pay all kinds of bills via individual deposits lines can be trecherous and you always have to have a US passport with you in order to exchange $$$. Often times the ATM is a much more attractive alternative.
