A Ride from SDQ to the Hotel at 3:30 AM

Flight arrives on a Friday morning at 2:30 am. By the time I claim bags, clear immigration and customs, it will be 3:30 am. Need to go to my hotel right on the malecon (near the Intercontinental) Options?????

A) My regular taxi driver who I always use, most likely should be sleeping. - Don't want to wake him for a RD$1,000 fare

B) Grab another taxi outside - what is their (nightitme) rates? Are there taxis waiting and available at 3:30 in the morning?

C) Rent a Car - Got a reservation from AVIS, but are they open at 3:30 AM?

Any help would be appreciated.

AVIS wont be open at that time but if you call direct to the office in SD they will have a member pick you up with the car. I dont think there is a charge for that. There will be Taxis but at that time few and far between. If all else fails your regular driver i'am sure will do it

I would stick with your regular driver...if he doesn't want to do it (which he almost definitely will), he may know someone else reliable and available.

At that hour, there isn't much dickering over the taxi fare, and the mafia's set price for a hotel address in Santo Domingo is US$40. If there are flights still to come in, there will be taxis outside the airport.
