La Base. I forgot how many screens they have, but their waitresses are the best looking and the place is semi-outdoors along the water, making for a nice atmosphere to hang out in.

My two cents- Eagle bar in the Zona Oriental has some of hottest sexy dressed chicas-again a hooters style place.
The La base and Eagle are two of only hooter style places i have seen as for sports bars in the city.

I checked out Five Star International Sports Bar for the first time today and this is hands down Santo Domingo's best sports bar. I counted about 50 tv's and the place was packed with a mix of mainly Dominicans and Americans. The bar also acts as a betting bar.

The bar promotes itself as an American style sports bar and it comes very close. Lots of games, lots of tv's, cheap beer and bar food. I say it comes close as two things caught my attention. One, I was not allowed to enter the bar with a hat on. I could not begin to understand why but that was the rule. Second, after the Giants scored their 3rd touchdown (Go Giants!) some guys from New York got excited. Just a few high fives and 'Go Giants' cheers. A security guard actually came over and asked these guys to keep it down a bit. What? At a sports bar? One of the guys got upset and said he refused to give a moment of silence when the Giants score

I can't really complain though, as this is the best sports bar in the city. I'll be there every Sunday rooting for the G-men for the rest of the season.

Five Star International Sports Bar is located on Ave. Independencia #626. They are right next door to the nightclub Cha and half a block from Malecon Center. Check out their contact info and map location here in the dr1guide directory: Five Star International Sports Bar - Bars - dr1guide Directory

Eagle bar gets my vote especially for playoff baseball, huge outdoor big screen TV. For american football the 5 stars international would be the place to go.

I second your comment about the Eagle Sports Bar in Zona Oriental - the chicas are smokin hot!

But maybe we should keep that to ourselves, as we don't want the place to get too crowded

It was nice when we lived there, decent bar type food, cold beer and a very good wine selection. Tons of televisions and they always used to let me have a tv to myself along the back of the bar if there was anything special I wanted to watch.
5 Star used to be in the Jaragua and is now down the street in their own building. As others have stated it's the best place to watch non-baseball games (The OP can watch NYY/BOS and now the playoffs pretty much anywhere) and as Sooner said they will give you your own TV is you ask them. I get there early on Saturdays and they give me the big plasma in the back bar like Sooner mentioned to watch my team. There are 5-10 gringos in there every Saturday (Never been on a Sunday but have heard it's pretty good) and the place is clean, food is good, security keeps the rif-raf out.

* I was asked to tone it down last week after I pounded on the bar when my team scored a TD. Then I remembered the gong shows I've seen in true Dominican "Bancas" and thought....."I'd rather not be able to pound my fist on the bar than have 100 guys arguing and slamming dominoes next to me"

Default Champions Sports Bar in the. Jaragua

I watched the Patriots-Tennessee game at 4:15 last Sunday afternoon at the Champions Sports Bar in the Jaragua. For 3 quarters of the game we were the only two people in the place. The food was very slow in comming and served cold on a hot plate(??). Everything was overpriced. The employees played pool to combat boredom. I will try one of the other suggestions the next time. Where is La Base?

The Santiago location is top-drawer also...

I just wish they served food.
