There are 3 AI's - check www.bocachicabeach.net for a list - the Dominican Bay (formerly the Boca Chica Resort) by Hotetur is nowhere near the beach and has a elevated walkay to the beach in a rather grubby part of it. The Hamaca and the Don Juan are on the beach and are equally boring.

If you don't want to leave the resort ,then go Juan Dolio. Very pretty. You are guaranteed to not have to meet any locals there.
