I don't want to say you're blind but it would help to look. Next to Giuila's cafe and behind. Next to colmado La Brisa they're building a new Banco Popular.

Next to giulias cafe Plaza Real are expaning the existing restaurant/comedor which is now up for rent for the third time in 18 months.

Behind Giulias cafe they are knocking down the colmado that closed about 8 months ago.

Casablanca Bar in old Juan Dolio is being changed from a bar into a restaurant.

The last owner was in a deep debt , asking a lot of cash for this colmado , that's the major reason why it was so long for sale . But finally it was sold , but as a site for a new Plaza Comercial ( That's why it is demolished ) . So it's a positive - not a negative point .

So....Felucho Jimenez (Tourism) announces his retirement, and states:
"But Jimenez himself says that harder times could be coming. "Let us not kid ourselves. We do not believe the bonanza will continue and we will be immune from the crisis," he recently told an audience at the German Embassy on occasion of the announcement of the construction of a major convention center for Santo Domingo."
So...despite the claims that things are selling and the market for Juan Dolio is hot, it appears that the cat is out of the bag and the dog's are starting to bark.

The new roof on the corner of Plaza Real, the owner build on Area Verde, and now it´s stopped, cause the Tourist Dept. stopped it. The Comador behind it is now cooking for all the workers, and at noon, you have about 150 workers dirty and smelly sitting in an italian plaza.
The comado, is not expanding, he sold it to Illusione, so when it´s finished we will have Illusione 2.
So the future looks good huuu

Talking

... and someone on the forum was complaining about not sufficient '' Night Entertainment '' in the area ... so be it ! ... and it's on the right place , just next to apart hotels . I guess the rentals for singles will be in high demand very soon around there ... there is a big '' single guys '' market buying apartments as well

I had a meeting yesterday with some Spanish developers that are just about to break ground on a very modern 25 floor tower in Juan Dolio. They have plenty of cash to spend and have put together an excellent team of architects and builders. m I'll post more details next week.

This is just one of several buildings I have seen planned and currently in construction in Juan Dolio or the new "South Beach" of the Caribbean.

Thanks Robert for a good news ! We'll be waiting for more details on this project . I guess after the North Coast ( Sosua ) DR1 own RE Office opening and the next opening in Punta Cana / Bavaro area , South Coast will be a next stop .
