A few weeks ago our caretaker called the police at 3AM to report there was a man with a gun at the property next door (nobody currently living there) This man was trying to come over the wall to our apartment property. The only thing keeping him from coming over was the guard dog who was barking furiously.
The caretaker told the police where we were in relation to Giulia's Cafe.
The police response? They didn't know where Giulia's cafe was located so they couldn't come.

The powers that be in the area have to sit down with the police commanders and break bread, and demand strict accountability.these responses to these incidents are totally unacceptable.

Apparently witnesses of the several hold ups said that the robberies were done in a military/police style. Wouldn´t be surprised if they were cops.

Don't worry "Fermin" police chief will take care of that.. As soon as they find them, the crooks or robbers will be shot dead by the police and that will stop that right away. Fermin don't play!!!

Exactly! My husband and I have been up at Giulia's often while the the police are there visiting. They obviously didn't care to respond in the wee hours of the morning.

I suspect that, without citizen pressure or public demonstrations of alarm, the police are willing to continue to pursue other matters aside from public safety. The reality is that you can pass the "cuartel" and see them sleeping on chairs outside at night. The fact that they don't know where Giulia's is reflects on their apparent lack of intelligence, as any self respecting idiot would have responded with a more professional excuse.

I always thought that the politur were in juan dolio ,a separate division protecting the tourist zone i agree with fernandez ,unless you have an active community involvement, little will change.

mikey please do not be so insensitive. many of the recent victims were law abiding citizens. I am afraid you cannot just sweep this crimewave under the carpet. The most recent were not tourists either - i don't know if you have noticed but there are very few tourists in Juan Dolio. There has been significant civilian pressure on the police, the press have been involved and there is a new Colonel. so far no difference at all.
