Default When we bought in 1990

we were told the roads would be repaired within 2-3 years after the sewer lines and water supply was put in. We were also told the beach road would become a pedestrian walkway with access only to service vehicles.

Roads were done 12 years later (now a disaster again after having been torn up to place non serviceable sewage pipes) , water about 3-4 years ago, and sewage lines still non-existent.

Pedestrian walkway---yeah-right!

Now we can't even take our umbrellas and beach chairs to the "PUBLIC beach without being thrown off the beach.

We knew what we were getting into but didn't realize the time frames for infrastructure development. Maybe our great grandkids will have good roads and sewage treatment facilities (as long as they don't hold their breath waiting for them!)

MommC: No--THEY'LL HAVE TO HOLD THEIR BREATH!! That is if they don't want to suffer COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases) from all the cement polvo/dust.

It's good to see/hear you back!! How was the cruise?

In the meantime, so far we're outside the main construction zone so there really isn't much dust this end of JD unless the wind blows the wrong way.
That might change if Aquabella ever gets started.
Would be nice if they filled in the cesspool that's breeding mosquitos. To date our letters to the "officials" haven't prompted the powers that be to have the un-natural lagoon filled in.
Problem is a lot of people (locals and ex-pats alike) believe that since the water is "salt" water mosquies won't breed. However I've been trying to enlighten them that with all the rain the lagoon is mainly fresh water now and all you need to do is have a close look at it and you can see the thriving hatchery!gre:

Salt water mosquito are much smaller , so you need a microscope to find them there . I would recommend Meiji stereo microscope. This stereo microscope model has a continuous zoom range of 7X - 45X and with special lenses can go as high as 270X. There is an eyepiece and objective lens for each eye so you will see the specimen in 3D or stereo. Stereos are very popular in industry ...

Default I've used the water from the lagoon

to incubate a mosquito trap that uses natural pheromones to trap mosquies in my house. Wanna see how many I catch each day? Some so tiny you can barely see them......

Aquabella is meant to become a ''Green Building'' ... probably they are keeping this lagoon as a natural part of it's design
