Default Yep....announced towers are for new construction.....

Too bad the 'old' construction announcements (sewage treatment, roads) haven't been acted on yet!

Anyone want to bet what gets finished first??? the 'new' announcement or the 'old'.........I'll start a betting pool if y'all want to join in!!

i see all these beautiful renditions and pictures of all these structures in the next sobe but show me pictures of men working on related infrastructure eg. roads, laying pipes for sewage treatment. these laborers are semi skilled for building structures but i am afraid the govt does not have any organized labor pool to effectively address the infrastructure issues. During the great depression the us govt organized work programs to build up the infrastructure . god forbid a politician in dr make someone work

Basically if the land is so ridiculously expensive in Juan Dolio area and is sold fast with little or no infrastructure at all , why would they be pressured about the infrastructure before they finish the constructions ? ... personally I'm still positive all will be fixed ... one day

''RE BUBBLE '' in land ... very original ... Nope mikey007 ... The land quantity in Juan Dolio is really limited . Plus the possibility to build up to 25-30 floors ... so it is the real price for it now , even it looks in most cases ridiculously expensive to me personally . ... There are towers in Juan Dolio that are going to be build on the beach on the lots were there are villas located ( cost over US$1,000,000 of land ) and they are going demolish them ... ... Remember Playa Real Resort

Mikey, I've been quiet for awhile reading your comments but I couldn't resist anymore and had to react. Abraham Lincoln once said "It's better to keep your mouth shut and let people think that you're stupid than to open it and to show them that you're really are"
You try to come up with smart remarks which don't make sense. My mom just arrived last week, first time in the DR, she's 67 and was always a home maker but she has more common sense than you because she also mentioned the poor conditions of the streets but also said that it's logic to built first and then fix the infra structure, because that's the way they do it in Holland where she lives.
Sorry for being so "Frank" I had to get it of my chest.

Talking Good point Frank.......

I think some of us forget that the way things are done where we come from are not necessarily the way the world turns in other countries!

Some of us who have been here for a while also seem discouraged by the length of time it takes to get things done in this country.

We went from having a bad road, to having a good road, to having a dug up road, to having a construction mine field and so we get discouraged.

We 'smell' the result of innumerable septic systems, many or which are primitive at best, and wonder when proper facilities will ever be installed.

We forget that we are fortunate to be living in a beautiful area, with a wonderful climate, and friendly neighbours (even if they don't have a septic and do their 'business' behind the fence across the street).

We just want everything to be 'perfect' in our little piece of paradise yesterday!

I see that a lot of constructions get finihed more or less.
That means after finishing, that they clean the area around, because they want to find clients to buy the apartments.
And buyers do not buy in dirty areas.
Therefore I am sure we get a cleaner Juan Dolio in the future.
I live here already 14 years and I am very happy with all the constructions.
I never shall move from this village.
