las Olas
Returned from Juan Dolio yesterday.
I came back with a greater preoccupation on the condition of the area, and with respect to the Las Olas project, the pace of development appears lethargic, a modest exersize at building when compared to the other projects. The second floor is almost finished after 2 years of deposited funds. The preoccupation comes as prices of materiales increase, and the pace of sales in the area - generally- is slowing. Also, a few of the projects which are near completion in the area are, unfortunately, cheap looking- drab on the beach front.
The Beach was a disaster. After some storms, the wash up of wood and weeds/plastics on the beach was huge. I had the pleasure of meeting the individual responsible for Beach clen up all the way from the Guayacanes up to Juan Dolio- a crew of 8 men, 2 wheelbarrows and a pair of rakes. The entire beach - and they all looked and worked as if they were sporting tremendouse hang overs. I calculated it took them 15 minutes per pile of garbage- and there were greater than 150 piles to pick up. 4 worked, and 4 watched.
I am concerned that there is lack of attention to the beach conservation/pick up, and that if the resources that exist to clean the beach are summed up in wheelbarrows and a few men, good luck. I lent them a small utility truck, and we worked 3 hours cleaning the beachfront in Juan Dolio by the Casablanca cafe.
This trip was interesting in that the kids were bored by the 2nd day there- nothing for them to do. They wanted to turn around and come back home to the States. Again, lack of services and things to do. They commented on the apparent availability of prostitutes, and that many more appear now than before in the evening. Interesting, from a 14 year old girl to comment on.

I've lived in several countries right on the beach and it's normal with storms that debri washes up on the shores.
We had the beaches in front of Costa del Sol and Marbella clean real quick.
Glad to read that besides criticizing you also do something positive.

And I had a wonderful day on Villas Del Mar beach yesterday . Clean beach , no trash , a lot of sand on the beach and in the water . Next time Fernandez bring your family to Villas Del Mar beach or Juan Dolio beach were it was renovated , specially in front of the Resorts or Condos . Just simple recommendation

Here in Villas Del Mar sector most part of the place is under construction and won't be finished this year , in few more years we can talk about more ''activities" , for now you can spend a day on the beach , dine out in any of dozen restaurants in the area of Juan Dolio, visit 2 casinos , play Golf in 2 Courses , and if you up to visit a Night Club (for men), 2 as well available in the area .
