Organizations clean area of the river Higuamo
''In activity involving the Sindicatura, the municipal council, firefighters, etc.
San Pedro de Macoris. Multisectoral Coalition for the Conservation of River Basin Higuano, comprising several companies and institutions, conducted an extensive clean-up operation in the area of the mouth of the river Higuamo.
Among the performances were the functional Sindicatura, the municipal council, the Fire Department Civil, the Civil Defense, Red Cross, the Navy and the Dominican Port Authority, Public Health, the Union of Neighborhood Boards and community leaders, and Neighborhood Punta Pescadora.
Also La Barca, Lower Manhattan and Barrio Blanco, Association of Industries Zone, Water Larimar, citrus, Jumbo, Politecnico Jose Joaquin Perez, School Punta Pescadora, Lycee Gaston F. Deligne, among others.
Other state agencies who supported the activity were the Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources, the news media in the province, the National Police and the National Army.
The operation began at 8 am with the blessing of the activity by the bishop of the diocese of San Pedro de Macoris, Monsignor Francis Ozoria Acosta on, in the Fathers of the Fatherland, in front of the cathedral St. Peter the Apostle.

The business representative thanked the support given by both enterprises and institutions in the area, as well as by authorities in the province.
Then they proceeded with the planting of mangrove red by the liquidator Ramon Antonio Echavarria, in one of the areas targeted for cleanup activity.
