We had a villa in Casa fo a few years. Was it a good investment? Yes. But there are also many problems. Will you be living there all of the time? If not, will you want rentals?

Vandee what is better for you as an investment and why : a villa in Casa De Campo or an apartment in Hemingway Club in Juan Dolio , since you have the experience in both ?

Default casa vs juan dolio

We had a villa in Casa for three years. Made about 90% in 3 years which was a nice return. However, Casa beach is not very nice. Casa management is not very good. restaurants are overpriced. Maintenance doubled in three years. The best thing about Casa is the golf. But as an investment, it was worthwhile.
Juan Dolio (Club H) is a nice little town, very casual, great beach, friendly people (not always true at casa where people tend to be a little more, well). I doubt the investment opportunity will be as great as Casa but we really bought the place so our kids would have a place to go on vacations.
But beachfront property always goes up in value. And Club H views are worth the price.

Vandee. Do you know anything about the villas in punta cana, owned by Julio Iglesias and Oscar de la Renta? Thank you

Default Punta Cana

I'm sorrry but we've never been to Punta Cana. The kids (20's and 30's) have been there for golf and some other activities and they said they had a good time. We didn't look at that area as a destination because from where we live, it was easy getting to LaRomana or Santo Domingo so we looked there.

Lucille...if you're talking about Punta Cana Resort and Club, it is a very nice (high end) property. High end beachfront properties are usually a pretty good investment, villas or condos. What you need to be careful of though is how high the prices are today...unless the property is truly unique. There's a danger with the amount of building going on here that if something similar is built nearby for less money, the original property becomes harder to sell. Casa de Campo was incredibly unique for many years..now it has some serious competition in La Romana, as well as Punta Cana...plus higher end condos in Juan Dolio...not to mention the North Coast which is really coming up as a more "high end" destinattion... Sea Horse Ranch, Ocean Dream, etc...

In Casa de Campo, Id look on the golf courses, on the Ocean or near the marina, or anything with a view of Altos de Chavon (not sure if they have villas with that view...)
