Default Costa Lunga Owner Killed

I know many posters stay at this hotel. Albino Brighenti was shot when he refused to give his scooter to 2 assailants. The 2 assailants were killed by police. It happened at 2.30 Monday afternoon.

I like the 'official' version of the event.......too bad I'd already heard the 'street' version.

What bad news - I feel for the fellow's family.

This is a reminder to me that personal items aren't worth my life, no matter how valuable.

The positive is that justice was quick this time.

Yes I'd like to hear that, too. Reaction of the daughter of deceased man and other business owners in the area is reported here:

Thanks for the link, it helped clear up a question I had as to who owns the hotel.

It's also interesting to note, that things have gotten so bad in BC that the Italian Embassy has advised it's citizens of the danger.

Some things are best left unsaid........especially when they come via the grapevine. Which is why it was nice to hear the official version.
Sometimes these things happen and one only hears the street version because nothing is publicized officially.

I agree - the stuff that I've heard throught the dominican grind mill always is so much grander than the real deal.

Glad you clarified, MommC. Somehow, I'd picked up a different meaning from your earlier post (i.e. that the official version was the papers getting it wrong again). Glad this doesn't appear to be so.

It could hardly be "grander" than this.
The dude is just driving by and finds himself in the middle of a gun battle between thieves and the cops, and the thieves shoot him in the back as he tries to escape, after refusing to hand over his wheels.
What more could there be?
Clint Eastwood stepping in?
