We're staying at the Wyndham Palace next week. Any advice? I've read both good and bad things about the facilities. Gracias!

Hi, we'll be at the Wyndham Dominicus Beach Resort next door (both are Viva
sister resorts) shortly, too. The only info I've been able to get is from their
web site which shows pictures and has a write up about the activities offered, resturants that sound very nice, and the beautiful beach. This will
be our first trip to D.R. and we haven't been able to find out much about it.
I posted a question here about suggestions for marlin fishing and got no response. I know you can sign up at the resorts for excursions to different
destinations but I have not found out what those destinations are yet. We are wanting to book a deep sea fishing trip from Bayahibe but have not been able to get any info. Sounds like they have a lot of fun activities to do at each resort including water sports. I also think there are casinos nearby but not sure how near. Sorry I'm not much help - I'm trying to find out info also about the Bayahibe, La Romana area. I have not heard anything bad about Wyndham Palace or Wyndham Dominicus Beach. What have you heard?
Thanks

Post Wyndham

I was there at the Beach, in December. I think that the thing is they share facilities, like the resturaunts. There is a lovely beach with sort of a "sporty" end where you can use the sport gear, wind-surf, kiyak or other boats. There were diving excursions. There was an area full of animation activities and another for bocce as well as quieter areas of the beach. Each swimming pool seemed to have a different climate as well. You had to make reservations for the resturaunts in "Guest Services"..some of these were very popular so you should probably check this out as soon as you can.

The complex is quite big, very well lit at night. Power went out only twice while I was there and with that only for a short time. I always have a small flashlight and travel with candles. There were numerous tourist trips and offerings in "Guest Services". Outside of the hotel there are several gift shops, money change service, pharmacy and gelato shop. It is a big italian area..there were many italians and french. Many people were smoking, so if you aren't into that request a non-smoking room so you'll be in a block away from that.

There are buses to LaRomana from there you can go anywhere. There is a public beach near the hotel and another at Bayahibe, which is very nice to get a real local beach not part of a resort. There are a couple of big dive shops/dive centers at Bayahibe. You should have no problem finding that of fishing. If you are looking for shopping there is more selection if you go into LaRomana. There is a cute city park there by the church, and lots of shops.

Of the resturaunts, I'd say to definitely make reservations for the "Grill" or the "mexican" at the beach. They were both outdoors and very pretty at night...don't miss out on that.

If you have questions just ask

Wink Thanks for info regarding Wyndham Palace

I haven't been on the website for several days. Thanks for the info about
Wyndham and Bayhibi. We're really looking forward to being there and seeing some new sights. Hope we can book a deep sea fishing trip when we
get there.
