I don't think anybody's 'right or wrong' about the alcohol really....my brother 'raved' his way around the UK and Europe back in the 80's/early 90's without any alcohol to speak of! There are different types of ravers......

1. Those who do copious amounts of drugs and just drink lots of water/Koolaid
2. Those who do copious amounts of drugs and also drink copious amounts of alcohol
3. Those who just drink copious amounts of alcohol

I'm sure there's a 4th category of people who just drink copious amounts of water/Koolaid......but I've yet to meet any!

I thought the whole fundamental principle of raves, was about doing "Ecstasy".

Yes....it was (and I assume still is, though don't know whether Ecstacy's still the main drug of choice)......hence the copious amounts of water/Koolaid needed to keep hydrated. But some people find it impossible to stay away from alcohol, even when doing lots of drugs and other people just want to go along with their friends and experience the 'vibe' and excitement of it all, but don't want to 'indulge' in the drugs for various reasons (probably sensible ones!).

I have to admit, I've never heard of the DR being mentioned as a destination for 'ravers'.......but somebody please correct me if I'm wrong!

caribbean sun is on the main auto pista between Guayacanes and Boca Chica. They hold raves about once a month. There is always trouble. Be careful if you go as there are probably more plain clothes police and FBI than ravers!!! There are often rap events with a whole range of bands. i have no idea how you would find out when they are held, just everyone seems to know when they are happening. You do have a very good chance of getting arrested if you go.

What more can be said than that?

Raves are hard to find here in the states and i would like to experience one first hand, I just don't know if they're legal or not. Thats why i mentioned the whole thing about "legalities". I'm not trying to find drugs or anything like that!

BTW. I have family in San Pedro but they're all much much older.
I know that you say above that you're not intending to do anything illegal, but I think that what Rocky's saying is that even if you're not looking to do anything illegal as such, if you choose to attend the rave, you may stand a chance of getting arrested just by virtue of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. And I think we all know that it's very hard to prove your innocence here once you're in that position......

Exactly, and the perfect victim for a corrupt cop is a newbie.
