Not much has been written about the new casino and entertainment complex opening in Dominicus, down the road from the Bayahibe townsite. It is a project of substantial size and promise and will offer visitors to the area a variety of entertainments. The current tentative date of opening is the middle of November, 2007.
Free shuttle service will be provided from Casa de Campo, La Estancia, Sunscape Casa del Mar, the Bayahibe Hotel, and all of the hotels in Dominicus. There will be 23 table games and 300 slots, as well as a fine dining restaurant, a sports bar and restaurant, a 1,000 seat theatre, and a disco bar with live entertainment on the weekends—and shopping! The casino is affiliated with the Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus, Oasis Canoa, Viva Wyndham Beach and Viva Wyndham Palace and there will be special room rates for qualifying players at Casa de Campo, Casa del Mar, and La Estancia. Hours of operation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. nightly.
They have a website established which has some fantastic renderings of the plans in the works which will be filled out as information is made ready.

I'm not a gambler myself, but I look forward to checking out the property once it's up and running. It also doesn't sound much like the kind of thing that DR1 posters would frequent, but I thought I'd share what I learned about it in case anybody's interested. It'll be a great opportunity for those who are looking for a place to meet up with friends staying at other hotels in the area without having to worry about day passes, etc.
