Oasis Hamaca Information
I've read all the reviews, been to all the websites. I'm not looking for opinions. I'm looking for tips, insiders advice and information to make our already booked week at the Oasis Hamaca the week to remember. We are not looking to leave the resort, but are just looking for a little relaxation, and time to ourselves.
Specifically, how can we ensure that we get a decent, clean, quiet room (no frills needed)? What is the tipping situation, as we are not afraid to tip a little extra to get better service? What are the best restaurants, and do we need reservations? Are there actual sail boats for use?
Just a little insider information is all we ask. Thank you.

when i was a rookie DR traveler, i stayed at the hamaca. i never really had a bad room, private beach and the food was decent. since boca chica is a small town, i would say venture out to the nice restaurants in town (you can walk from the hamaca). no reservations needed.

we stayed there last year. i tipped the booking guy 20.00 as i handed him my paper work for the room, the safe key is 40 bucks he gave it too us no charge,we got a nice room, tipped the made 10 buck,s room was cleanned very well everyday, you dont need reservations for the lacarts, day walks in boca chica are ok but you will be hassled when you go over the wall and take the short cut into town but thats too be expected, all and all pretty enjoyable, the day before you leave take your bill too the front check out too be verified, the help has a tendency too add things that came out of the paybar on your bill you can straighten that out the night before you leave, dont take anything out of the payfridge it,s like 5 bucks for a bottle of pop,i had no complaints about the food, you;ll have a great time there ,hope this helps sawsky

Hi,
I stayed there in Aug/07. Loved it. Beautiful hotel, great food and variety of places to have a drink and dance. I do know that they sustained some damage when "Dean" swung by. Lost some of their beach but, I'm sure they've re-couped by now. We paid and extra 30$ to get a oceanview room...worth the extra $$$$!!!! I'd stay out of Boca Chica at night. The ladies of the evening seem to come out of the woodwork, they won't bother you but they ARE everywhere! We managed to find a nice little bar to sit and have a brew and we were ok there...no one bothered us. During the day it was ok though. !!Enjoy

Best Rooms?
Do you have an idea as to where the better part of the hotel is to stay? I heard the main building is under renovation...should I request a garden room? Thoughts?
Thank you.

the garden rooms are away from the beach area and the main building. the little theatre, spa, tennis courts and one restaurant are located on that side. it's ok and the rooms are nice...

I stayed in the main building and it was only for 1 night so I don't really know the lay-out of the hotel that well. I DO recall it being very spread out across the beach, meaning.....while in the ocean looking back at the hotel...I could see alot of windows facing the water and they didn't seem to be all connected to one building. This would lead me to believe that there was more then one building with oceanviews. If I were you, I'd give them a call and see what they can do for you. Best of luck!

Hamaca
Does anyone know how Hamaca or Canoa in La Romana weathered Noel?
I'm arriving on 11/22 in SDQ to head to La Romana, hoping the roads are all passable.....
