Smile Questions re: Juan Dolio area

Hi,

I was supposed to go to the D.R. last June but personal considerations caused me to cancel.

I plan to come there for scuba diving in early February and will dive with Pirates Cove dive center in Juan Dolio.

Can I get some recommendations for hotels in the area (no hippies, please!)? Also what is the weather like in that part of the D.R. in February?

Thanks,

Sy

The closest ones from the Pirates Cove Dive Center are Capella Resort and Talanquerra Resort . Both are All Inclusive . No hippies around there The weather in Feb. is great .

Default Questions re: Juan Dolio area

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the info..

As I remember there were also a few nice smaller hotels close to Pirate's Cove Dive Center but I don't remember the names?

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Sy

Hi Matilda,

Pirate's Cove web site is showing:

"Our dive center in Villas del Mar (the new part of Juan Dolio) "

Wink Pirate's Cove Dive Center

They were there 2 weeks ago , I personally visited the place and saw some divers coming back from the boat . The building where their office is located is actually for sale . It is located right next to Aquamarine Residence-Resort ( old Decameron Tower ) . I will be there next week and will let you know

My friend Uwe is there General Manager. It is near Plaza Chocolate.
And the diving school is until now not moved to Bayahibe.
I do not know if they want to move in the future.

They haven't moved cause they go every day to Giulia's Cafe for Breakfast, nice Omlets and Egg and Bacon sandwiches, and great milky coffees.
Don't worry they are still there.

Default pirates cove

the dive business Pirate's Cove has been sold. The owner has decided to move the business to Bayahibe - there are alot of fine hotels (unfortunately mostly all inclusive) located in Bayahibe- which has some excellent dive sites and beaches as well. There are some smaller hotes/hostales as well. I am told by the gm and assistants of Pirates Cove that the diving there is spectacular.
Suggest you clarify your stay and focus more on Bayahibe for Pirates Cove diving.
