New Juan Dolio Progress

It is just amazing how fast building are going up in the new Juan Dolio. A good example is the condo project Marbella owned by Metro Country Club. It is being built at a pace of one story every 10 days. Even businesses are opening. By the way the Maximus restaurant located right in front of the Capella, owned by a French lady has reopened with exquisite international food. I have been there twice already; the service is great, the food is out of this world and the prices are really correct.

Does any one knows if there are services type businesses (food stores etc.) planned for the area?

There are plans for a new shopping centre in front of Plaza Brisa express, but until the apartments are occupied I doubt it will do much business. We now have 4 furniture stores!!! If you want food come to Mar Azul mini market!!!!

Mikey, do you really think that would be a solution? I don't personally I think it would be better to wait untill most of the construction is finished.
Besides that it's like having speed bumps.

Someone actually did exactly what mikey007 suggested in front of Sun Village ... one dump filled up the holes with the cement and the other drove over it before it dry

sun village at least has a proactive philosophy they are not waiting for their ship to pull in

Ironically it looks like they actually pulled out... not confirmed yet ...

IMNSHO what it would take in most places (to deal with these potholes proactively) is a big fat law suit for someone breaking their leg, neck or blowing out their axle and killing a pedestrian. It could easily happen. I've seen many twisted ankles and pulled rocks out of a toddler's head who fell in one this weekend (stones embedded into the skull--the parents didn't have the $ for tourist doc in JD and brought her to visitors' day at the orphanage.) I was very disturbed that this kid had to wait to have rock extraction done. Fortunately she'll be fine but if those who witnessed it had just even poured iodine on it and patched it with a bandaid she'd have a major scar and probably an infection--which in that area can get especially nasty.

The thing with WAITING till "most" of the construction is done is that 10 years from now we will still be waiting and the roads will be worse. Has anyone looked at how much property there is still there to develop? There will ALWAYS be more construction. This is NOT acceptable...not for some place promoting itself as the next SoBe! Come on--do the right thing...pave now and then AGAIN after your trucks ruin the road for building the luxuriously priced luxury condos. This are classic free rider and negative externalities issues from university econ classes.

drchris you are right but even from an aesthetic angle, these potholes shoud be repaired iknew 2 investors looking down there and they werent impressed they mentioned that old european saying "a penny wise and pound foolish '
