Any info on Decameron-Juan Dolio

Does anyone have any info on the status of the Decameron resort in Juan Dolio?
I noticed when I was last in the area that there seems to be 'some' guests at the resort but you can't seem to book a reservation there (at least not from any Canadian travel agencies). They've opened a lovely new casino at the resort (worth checking out if you're into that) with some pretty good sports 'memorabilia' upstairs. Would appreciate any info.

To a mainly Dominican weekend clientel.........
Many problems still with non- functioning water, electricity, etc. in the rooms
however........it is cheap!

BTW if you get a room that the taps or switchs or plug don't work they'll change rooms with no problem (maybe several times until you get one where everything works!)

Food is okay (we had dinner there last week), typical Dominican fare but good and I had the first berol salad outside of a private residence EVER in the DR.
The casino and disco are lovely.........

The Decameron resort in Juan Dolio has recently opened and I went there one week ago with my boyfriend.
I spent a wonderful week with my boyfriend in that hotel from February 16th to Feb 24th 2008.

It's a 3 * hotel, and I was very surprised because the food was EXCELLENT, the pool was good (volley ball, water polo, basket ball) and the animation team was great, nice and sweet with all the tourists: they were dynamic, warm and made a lot of efforts to play different funny shows every nights.

ok, rooms are not (for the moment) perfect, but it's not so bad, it's not dirty (our room was clean and we often ask to the housekeeper to clean our room). This is only the bad point: For our part, the air conditioner didn't work in our first room, and there wasn't water ... but the manager and the employees are nice and understanding and you can change your room until you find a good one. The service is good and they are conscient of those little problems.

MommC is right, the casino and disco are nice too.

I loved this place for the employees: always smiling and friendly.
I hope you good holidays in this hotel if you are looking for fun, friendly and nice dominican people (remind: this isn't a 4 *). Have fun!
