Default Fun things to do around Casa de Campo?

Hi!

Me and seven other friends got a REALLY good deal for a week's stay at a villa in Casa de Campo at an auction. The more I read about it, it looks like we're going to be a little out of our element, and I'm wondering what there will be there for us to do? We're all single guys and girls in our late 20s/early 30s and definitely not wealthy. We couldn't care less about golf, tennis or polo. LOL I've been searching, but it looks like all the adventure is on the North Coast and will be very hard to get to. Is there anything adventurous or interesting to do that could be a day trip from Casa de Campo? We'll be there the last week of July. All suggestions are much appreciated!

Thanks!
Holli

Generally the fee for a basic trail ride is included in a villa package. It is not polo and the horses are decent. You can get horses for beginner through experienced rider level and the pace will be adjusted to your comfort level. It is a nice way to see a bit of the countryside. Go on the earliest ride available and enjoy yourselves.

oops forgot to add you should visit the cave just outside of La Romana - it has been developed quite nicely and is well worth a trip to see it.

I can provide you with lots of suggestions for things to do as an excursion for a price--such as ATVs or island tours as a snorkeling outing or as a party outing--if you want to send me an e-mail. It's too much to post here and I can offer links and pictures too.

There is the new Casino Dominicus 20 minutes from Casa del Campo which has a comp shuttle from the area hotels. They have some entertainment on a few nights a week (usually the weekend, but you'd want to look into it to see if there was anything scheduled then), a disco, and 2 restaurants as well as gaming. Pictures at Casino Dominicus and Dominicus, La Romana, Dominican Republic pictures from caribbean photos on webshots

There is some fun shopping in La Romana if you want to see what is available for sale to Dominicans, and there are some cute places for a meal or a drink in the fishing village of Bayahibe 15 minutes away.

You can also rent a boat that you can drive yourself if you're interested, or for the same price, you can have a guide go along.

Let me know your budget and your interests if you want to hear more!

I would say Altos de Chavon is in the "must see" category. In a totally different vein there is an outfit that gives tours in amphibious vehicles called "gators" departing from where the highway crosses a river which I believe is the Chavon, East of La Romana. You take the dirt road down to the river just before the bridge. It looks like fun.

I hadn't shot a gun in years but I enjoyed the skeet shooting. Didn't want to kill anything alive but I wiped out a few orange disks.
The island thing with the snorkling and the party was fun.
