Default ATM - Boca Chica - Money Exchange

hi all
this forum is so kewl
is there an ATM machine in Boca Chica , also has any body had any problems with ATM credit fraud, i like to use the ATM because they usually have a diciplined rate of exchange and limits the necessity to carry large sums of cash

Money exchange - in the posts i have read it looks like the best place to exchange money is at the airport, i will arrive late in the evening 10:00 p.m., is the money exchange still open at this time at the airport, also in some of the posts i have read it refers to keeping your reciepts from the money exchange so in able to return or exchange Dominican pesos back to U.S. funds, in the event i was to win any money in the casino (not likely right lol ) is it easy to exchange this back into U.S. currency?
thanks
dan

In Boca Chica,I've never used an ATM, although I know some that have, with no problems. Not positive where there is one. Sure there's one at the Hamaca. I use Banco Populaire who's hours & location fit me perfectly

You are coming in on a flight to SDQ? Downstairs at the food court - in the back there are various ATM machines. Near the bathroom and near Bon (Ice Cream Store) I use them from time to time Banco Leon, Popular or Reservas. Have had no problems.

You cannot take out more than 10 thousand pesos at one time...about 300 USA Dollars. If you need more then you can request a maximum of 7500 pesos - keep in mind most ATM policies with US Banks is that you cannot withdraw more than $500 USA Dollars in a 24 hour period.

Enjoy your stay.

If staying in Boca Chica there is an ATM at the Shell Station where there is also a Burger King. Never had problems with that ATM either.

There is an ATM across the street from the entrace to Hotel Hamaca. It is very secure, usually with guards watching. I am not certain of the bank that operates it; probably Banco Popular.

The limit with Banco Popular is 10k peso. I have recently withdrawn alot more from a Ban Reservas ATM. So if your bank charges fees for withdrawing from competitor's ATMs, look for a Ban Reservas to make less withdraws and accrue less fees.

Enjoy your trip.

BanReserva has an ATM that is enclosed and guarded so you won't have someone looking over your shoulder when you use it. Its on the street that runs parallel to Duarte at the Hamaca end of town. It is also very close to a police post.

To make my answer to the original question more complete I add the following. Changing money at the airport will be a waste of time and likely a waste of some of your hard earned money. As another poster pointed out, there are several ATM machines in the lower lobby of the airport that can supply you with pesos to get you started. Should you be fortunate enough to find yourself with a surplus of pesos at the end of your trip you will find plenty of "Cambios" (money changing shops) that will convert them back to dollars, euros, etc.
