Hooters is coming to SD...
There's probably a lot of you folks that could care less, but Hooters is coming to Santo Domingo.
I was driving up Abraham Lincoln last night, and the hugh electronic billboard was flashing the Hooters logo and the "coming soon" message.
Anybody here in the capi know anything more? I'm guessing maybe in the new Blue Mall?

To be honest with you, I don't know what took so long. If there were ever a place where that type of business would fit right in, it's Santo Domingo...
I really don't even care that much about the girls, I'm a big fan of their hot wings. I'm not a sports guy either.
My brother has a load of stocks in Hooters, since the beginning. I'll have to check with him and see what he has to say.

Lets hope it doesn't go the same way of the first Hooters here in SD, that used to be on the Malecon.

Not the same.. That one and the other were knockoffs, and both were shut down due to intervention by the "real Hooters"
The first one was on San Vicente, owned by a retired American WWF wrestler named Rocky, who also built the waterpark on the Las Americas expressway.
The one on the Malecon was a knockoff of Rocky's knockoff. Needless to say, neither one had good food, and the girls were not too impressive either(Well, Rocky had some nice ones in the beginning, but didn't pay crap, so they didn't last very long)
I think the "real McCoy" will do pretty well. As I'm sure you noticed, EVERY fast food and restaurant place in SD is doing exceptional business at lunch time.

I can't believe people are fans of the wings at Hooters. I guess the atmosphere is distracting enough that you don't care. I would still go there and try it out though to see how it compares with those in the US.

Hooters
As the DR is a Catholic country I do not think Hooters would be able to find many girls willing to parade around in revealing outfits no matter how much they were paid.

They do it other venues, so why not Hooters.
Look at Eagles and some of the larger colmados around the city.
Money talks and times are tough.
