Another assault!!
Was just informed that an elderly expat who lives in Juan Dolio got held up by 5 men the day before yesterday in his apartment. He had a chica with him who got gang raped by all of them!!!!
This is actually to sad for words.
I know the gentleman personally but I haven't seen him for a couple of days.
Matilda you know anything more about this?

I don't know all that and I'm not going to speculate either.

Pig, I think your questions might be valid at some point, but completely ill-timed and inappropriate, at the moment.
Why don't you wait and see what information is forthcoming, and save the speculation until at least we know all the facts?
What you are suggesting isn't unheard of, but speculation in that regard, right now, can do much more harm than good, and it doesn't serve any purpose besides creating a feeding frenzy for all the vicarious thrill-seekers.

For the past few months I have been writing about the fear I have concerning the deteriorating social fabric, consequences of a rapid deceleration in the overall economy and the desperation I sence is gaining strength in the general population. These recent events are perfectly predictable, as is the expected increase in violence that is due to run its course. Lack of suitable political will, policing, legal framework and overall personal security issues will result in a magnified focus on the Dominican Republic, and unfornately, tourist areas where the targeted are tragically held at gun point partly due to a general ignorance of real Dominican life issues and how these can lead to unwanted consequences..
Perhaps less visibility, less public profile and a better understanding of personal risks needs to be considered when frequenting the country. Those residing need to understand that the country is becoming desperate, and conditions are ripe for personal tragedies. A poor nation struggling to find liquidity where there is none, you must consider this a very difficult moment in the countries recent history, and take every precaution while trying to maintain a positive attitude in a turbulent time.
All this, until there is a general sence of security and some repuercussions for the many crimes being perpetrated, its best to stay "low" for now and be very aware of one's surroudings.

Sad but it is a valid argument if the girl is a street girl. We dont know the answers yet but this is very feasible in DR in this type of situation

so the guy who got robbed is ok right ? he wasn't hurt in this incident ? i feel sorry for the girl also. although rape is bad, at least they weren't killed and in time can recover from this ordeal.
