I stayed at this hotel about a year and a half ago and was also not impressed (Then again I travel so much that it is hard for a hotel to impress me). I just thought it was quite expensive for what they offer. The rooms are very old and outdated, beach not very good, pool was just OK. I didn't go all inclusive as I figured I could eat and drink better outside even if it costs more. Los Robles restaurant was pretty good. Saw a few foreigner girls there with their respective sankies. The sankies were also hanging out by the bar and hitting on every woman that showed up (not as smooth as the ones in PP and Boca Chica. I guess they don't have as much practice).
The Barahona area is absolutely beautiful. The beaches are normally not sandy but pebbled or with lots of shells. Next time I go I think I will try the one Paul Gerace mentioned (can't recall the name Punta Bonita???) which looked nice. Bottom line you will not find really good hotels in this part of the island yet. The scenery makes if all worth it and I will visit again, I just don't expect top of the line accommodations.
