Yup, Murcia. About 4 hours south of Madrid by train. There were 6 of us who ate sancocho for lunch 2 days in a row. We made a lot that time.

Two more sets of pictures are already to be seen. These cover the ride around Lake Enriquillo and the road trip from Oviedo to Bahia de las Aguilas.

I have never heard that before; I myself have been to Polo Magnetico at least five times and have never experienced any discomfort.

Mariluz in their day manager and all the people there are very friendly (specially if you appreciatte their work). Some cabins are better than others but all are in good shape.
I'm from the area and I would recommend Hotel Pontevedra to anyone, always stay there when I go to Barahona, Bahoruco specifically since my grandmother was from there and I know a lot of people there.

I'm not sure pontevedra knows how to maintain this hotel... My parents were in this hotel during the last summer, the rooms were clean but with a lot of problems : big hole in the ceiling, problems with bulbs, planta sometimes stopped that significates no air-conditionning...
Furthermore, service was very cold and the included breakfast is just a coffee.
For more than 2000 pesos the room, it is not a good option.

Seems that what you're talking about is a thing of the past as we stayed there for a week during the latter half of April 2007 and we got good service. The food for breakfast was eggs, ham, toast, coffee, and fruits. For dinner was either beefsteak, chicken, pork or fish with tostones and salad. Not a 5 course dinner but for the price we payed I would not have expected it.

The staff is not your professional grade 5 star type people but were friendly and when we needed something it didn't take long for them to come up with the solution.

Some rooms could get a makeover with a little paint and a good scrubbing down but I've seen worse at AI's. The planta during the week only did not work one day for two hours and we were by the pool.

All in all for the price paid and the service received I would not have a problem with staying there again.

I was not excepting a 5 five star, just minimum service as for istance, complete breakfast, luz all the day and air-conditionning. Just a precision, during these days, my family was the only customers of the hotel, this can explain the difference of treatment.

I am really surprised, I´ve stayed at Pontevedra many times and never had a problem, breakfast and dinner have always been very fulfilling, as Motorcycler says, breakfast is eggs, ham, toast, coffe and juice. For dinner one time we were still in the pool at 9PM and the waiter offered to bring our dinner to the pool, we ate it sitting inside the pool by the pool bar, of course he got a nice tip. Anyone can have a bad experience in a hotel or with the staff, even if it's Punta Cana, but the rooms are new and I would be very much surprised if they charged them 2,300 and they didn´t serve breakfast. I have been lucky since every time I go the generator is working and never had problems with the A/C or the rooms.

I do not know the owner nor anyone who works at the hotel, my recommendation is simply as a satisfied customer.
