arenque / herring
atún / tuna
bacalao / cod
calamares / squid
camarones / shrimp
cangrejo / crab
carpa - Carp
clams /almejas
gambas / prawns
langosta / lobster
lenguado / sole
mejillones / mussels
merluza / hake
mero /grouper or sea bass
ostra / oyster
pargo / snapper
platijia / flounder
red snapper / chillo
sardina o pica-pica/ sardines
shark / tiburón
trucha / trout

I added oyster and shark got the translation online. Hope it's right.

Did I forget any fish?

And again are these kinds of fish called something different in the DR?

The only one that doesn't apply in the DR is 'gambas'. 'Camarones' is used for both shrimp and prawns.

Also, 'tuna' is often used instead of 'atun'. As nobody eats prickly pears, there is no confusion.

What about clams? I can't think of the spanish word right now, but I think the one someone told me also starts with a C. maybe not.

You will see mero on many menus - it is either grouper or sea bass.
