Default Which one is correct?

Hi all,
I am trying to write a story for my college composition class and since English is my second language I need a little help.
Which one of these is the proper way to say: Y sintieron una sensación de alivio al ver que....

1. And they felt a relief sensation to see that.....
2. And they felt a sense of relief to see that....

I would really appreciate it you help me out with this little doubt.

Number 2 is correct, but you should not start a sentence with "And"

Thank you very much for your prompt response. That's what I thought but somebody else told me that I should use # 1

It is #2 -

Tell that to Hemingway!!

It is good to know the rules, though. It is better to know when to break them.

Ricardo900, the sentence does not start with and. I was also told during my high school years that one should not start a sentence with and or but and some other words that I can't remember. However, this teacher says that it is ok to start a sentence with any of this words or whatever you want. Apparently he doesn't care.
