Default cangrejo-"I'm going...

This is the time of year that "I go crabbing (cangrejo)".Using cube shape traps I catch these crabs in salt water. My questions are-
1) How do I put "crabbing" into a verb structure?
2) Dictionary meaning of "cangrejo" applies to FRESH water crayfish. Is there another word for them when they come from SALT water.

Jaiba is the Taino word for a fresh water (river) crab (who said the Taino didn't survive the Conquest? ;-). Crayfish are called 'camarones' just like their salt water (sea) cousins.

Default I agree

I agree with Mirador. I have seen la jaiba fresh out of the river. They look like crabs. Also, there are freshwater crayfish that are called "cachu" and the fresh water shrimp, called camarones, can be huge! All can be found in the mountain streams.

Aguaita mama! Y donde salieron to' e'to cibaeño?

Cangrejos are salt water crabs. Jaibas are fresh water crabs.

I have never seen crayfish in DR similar to those in the US, but have seen the fresh water shrimp (camarones de agua dulce) in rivers.

You are correct in saying that I was interested in the very hard shell salt water variety--not a crayfish or camerone. Spanish dictionary howerver defines cangrejos as fresh waterNot that important to me .I just really wanted to know how to form the sentence (verbs) that I am going crabbing.
Thanks for all the help to date.
