Chavez calls someone an idiot
I just read in an article about Chavez moving to nationalize some utilities in his country. He made a remark about someone that opposed a view of his over some TV station.. and he called the guy and idiot...but yahoo says that he called the guy something that ROUGHLY means an idiot: heres their report:
"Dr. Insulza is quite an idiot, a true idiot," Chavez said in a speech after swearing in new Cabinet members. He used a vulgar Spanish term that translates roughly as idiot. "The insipid Dr. Insulza should resign from the secretariat of the Organization of American States for daring to play that role."
what does anyone think the VULGAR TERM he used to roughly translates into Idiot is?
pendejo?
thanks.

"doctor Insulza! ¡No sea pendejo!''
Actually, President Chavez was referring to the Secretary General of the OAS, José Miguel Insulza's declaration condemning the Venezuelan Bolivarian Government for refusing to extend the concession for the use of a radio frequency for a TV station owned by Venezuelan media mogul Marcel Granier. The term used was " pendejo". It is considered mild profanity, and you can find its meaning and etimology in Wikipedia.
Mr. Chavez also went ahead and used a play on words on Mr Inzulsa's surname, "...es una posición bien insulsa de verdad la del Dr. Insulza, da vergüenza, ojalá me lo consiga yo ahora en Managua, se la canto de frente y delante de los presidentes y delante del mundo, debe darle vergüenza''...
the term insulso is defined as "a very dull person" in English to French, Italian & Spanish Dictionary - WordReference.com

Bob that was a good guess. The link will take you to the story from a Venezuelan paper. Before "El diablo" now "Pendejo"

But he's a good Marxist/socialist, so he'll get a pass...
(I wonder when he opens the re-education camps and "mental hospitals" for his political opponents... )

SELFISH IS WHAT HE IS, I doubt he's thinking about the less fortunate masses. Some of those you mentioned might have had good intentions, I'm sure there are some with good intentions but Chavez??? and Fidel??? come on.
