Default Need help again.....

I need help again...

I was out with my cousin and her Dominican husband and he taught me to say something which meant something along the lines of, Im gona smack you. We were using it in a jokey context, like if we were insulting each other we would say it. As we were in quite a noisy place, he was trying to get me to say it and I couldnt hear properly so my cousin said it sounded like sack-of-****-a haha. So I was like, ok! And tried to copy what he was saying by saying sackajeta - phonetically.
I was saying that for ages and only my boyfriend could understand what I was saying. He would repeat it for me if someone asked what I was saying. How embarrasing that I was getting it wrong...but my bf was helping me.

Anyway, today my boyfriend confirmed it was 'esa galleta.' So, I translated it with my trusted babel fish and it said 'that cake'?????? What???? Can anyone help me and explain if I was saying it in the right context to begin with?

Galleta = slap in Dominican slang, but Babelfish was not totally wrong, it is also the standard Spanish word for biscuit/cookie.

I wonder why. In Spain, "torta" means slap, and its literal meaning is also cake or tart (the edible variety).

Nice another spanish word that has a flemish sister.

"een gallet verkopen" (to sell a "baffle")

Half a millenium ago the spanish ruled these regions and still there are words that linger on with the same meaning as thier spanish version

Maleta: mallet
Fresa: frees
Galleta: gallet

Greetings

Johan

'Bizcocho' is cake in DR Spanish, and 'Pastel' is the usual word in Spain.

Torta, tarta or queque (as in cake) are other variations.

Default I Want A cookie not a cake!

Bizcocho-reminds me of the first time I "used" this word in SD meaning I wanted a cookie with my coffee. So drawing from my equally bad Italian I asked for a biscotti and received a piece of cake.
Needed to correct this fast (4 years ago) or I would be as big as a large piece of bizcocho right now.
