In my book "mamacita" is reserved only for your wife or gf, but only if you've been intimate with her. If you're courting a young lady, and want to eventually get La...er..you know what I mean, don't call her that. she'll be offended and won't give you any.
The term can sometimes be derogatory depending on circumstances. It is often used by uncouth people. And never, ever call your mother such unless you're like seven years old or afflicted by an Oedipus complex.
