Caja de bola de la rueda, in this specific case.
It may not be the exact proper way of saying it, but they will know what you mean.

OK, dominicans are really good on inventing names....

so the WHEEL BEARING is a pineapple... you've heard it right, it's PIÑA

funny thing is the Dominican Mechanics use the spanglish words...
like bearing si always "berin"
bushing is always "busin"
etc...
so "cojinete" would not work

I already found out the answer myself by going to "repuestos" and showing them the "part printout" from internet

Although though "wheel bearing" is a broad designation, on most current cars "wheel bearing" comes sealed in what is known as "wheel hub assembly".
That WHA is known as "PIÑA"

...and... the signs of WHA problems is the humming noise that continues even after putting on new tires

Caja de bolas is NOT "piña", according to what I was said... "caja de bolas" is a part of "wheel assembly hub" which is "piña"

I saw a book at the repuestos that said "wheel assembly hub" in English, and had a handwitten - piñas - on it

To my further questions, I was told "PIÑA" contains "caja de bollas", "roller bearing", and all other stuff... it's like a mechanical AI

From further online investigations I learned that "wheel beraings" now (199X onwards) come sealed in what is known as "wheel assembly hub".

You're not saying anything different from us.
Bearing is caja de bola and the whole wheel hub assembly is a piña.
Even if some bearings are only available in the whole assembly, it does not change the fact that bearings are still called caja de bola.
