Default "New" method of refining Spanish

I wanted to suggest to those learning Spanish that they try recording their voice and then playing it back to listen and critique it. I did this by accent with my new cellphone, appaently it has a recorder and I inaverdently hit the button. I was surprised to find out some words I thought I had down ok definitely need more work. I also somehow have developed a somewhat "Italian" intonation with some words, this based on listening to my recording and comparing it with a few Italian acquaintences I know. Also, this has further been reinforced by Dominicans thinking that I was Italian. Somewhat troubling, but hopefully I can figure out the problem. Good luck.

That's a great idea, I'll try it with my cellphone. Dominicans are always saying that I sound Panamanian, who knows?? Maybe its my Brooklyn accent. I thought all natural born americans speaking spanish will sound the same or similar, like Chinese and Indian nationals sound similar when they speak english.

When I speak in my heavily-accented English, I apologize for my accident.
