meaning of a word
Can someone please tell me what this illness is? I know I am not spelling it correctly, but it sounds like bewayla! And is it serious?

It's probably viruela, pronounced vee-roo-elah, which is chicken pox.

You now that and I know that. But most Dominicans don't differentiate. It is all veruela to them.

Technically, you are correct. However, smallpox is not a common occurrence anywhere in the world. What people commonly call viruela in DR is in fact varicela or chicken pox, which btw, can also be serious if it occurs during adulthood.
So send another $3,000!

Thank you for the information, from what I can gather this person is very ill. Has not been out of bed for over a week.
To the other smart asses, this person is to ill to even ask for 1 peso, but maybe you could find a prayer in your heartless sole.
