Default Eso Ojitos Negros

... is a song recorded by Alex Bueno.

I know that "ojito" is normally a beguiling or flirtaceous look, but are "ojitos negros" "black looks" in the English idiomatic sense (that is, unfriendly or accusatory looks)? Or does it just mean the lady has dark eyes? I am sorry that my Spanish is not yet up to translating the lyrics to find out.

And why is it "Eso" and not "Esos"? Is this just the Dominican dropping of a final "s" or is it an idiomatic usage?

Those little black eyes.

It doesnt mean Black looks just, black little eyes. And yes the "Eso" word is incorrect, it should be "Esos" asumming the lady still has both his eyes.

Remember the tendency to not pronounce some "s's".

Hello...not all of you go to school!!! A person that knows how to speak properly...DOES!

To the OP...yes, it's supposed to be "Esos ojitos negros"...Those little black eyes...meaning the lady in question has pretty black eyes...it's very endearing...

Carry on....

People questioned if I am Dominican because I always tried to speak Spanish properly and my children speak proper English at least in front of me. They tell me their friends asked them where are they from.

Esos ojitos negros is one of the nicest piropo a man can say. It can be esos ojitos verdes, etc but the most common is negros. Very romantic.
